Ingredients
Scale
- 8 slices white sandwich bread
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup strawberry jam
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened or melted
- Optional: fresh strawberries, sliced
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until the filling is smooth and fluffy.
- Lay out the bread slices. Spread the cheesecake filling on four slices and the strawberry jam on the other four. Press the slices together to form sandwiches.
- Lightly butter the outside of each sandwich.
- Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium-low heat. Fry the sandwiches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and the filling is warm.
- Transfer the fried strawberry cheesecake sandwiches to a plate, let them rest for a minute, then dust with powdered sugar. Slice in half before serving warm.
Notes
- Use room temperature cream cheese for a smoother filling.
- Choose sturdy, slightly thick bread for best results.
- Cook slowly over medium-low heat for even browning.
- Chill assembled sandwiches for 15 minutes before frying for neater results.
- Experiment with different jam flavors like raspberry or blueberry.
- Serve immediately for the best crispy and creamy texture.
